In November 2007 I got introduced to Spike's parents - Ch. Varsha's Dynamic (Tiger) & Windward's Tessie, and their new litter of Wire-haired Dachshunds, at Windward Kennels. At the time, I had no idea about the Wire-haired Dachshund as a breed. Preeti asked me pertinent, perceptive questions and gave me sound advice. That's when I set my eyes on little Spike, and was hooked. There has been no going back since!

Ever since Spike literally scampered into my life, I not only had a new addition to my family but also an excellent friend, confidante and advisor in dog care from Preeti. I am impressed immensely by her passion to not only find her dogs a good home, but also to educate her clients on how best to take care of them. Six months have passed since I got Spike home and Preeti continues to ask after him and help me understand and love him more. It's been a fabulous experience indeed!

As for Spike, words cannot begin to describe how he has improved the quality of our lives! Curious by nature, active, fun-loving, extremely sociable and street smart, Spike is the perfect companion for my playful and boisterous Golden Retriever, Caesar. What I lack for in energy and enthusiasm at the fag end of a long work day, he more than compensates for with his unflagging patience and vibrancy! Our lives do not have one boring moment with him around.

Spike is excellent with kids as well as other dogs in the neighbourhood. And because of his size, he's perfect for our 2BR apartment. Being small, he hardly smells and once house trained, is a perfect companion to any small / medium family.

I can only thank Preeti for doing such a wonderful job with her litter and adding value even after she gave Spike away to me! I've had a wonderful experience with Windward Kennels and Preeti, and I would urge all dog lovers to go for the same!

It has been nine months since I went to pick up Ginger, my Wire-haired Dachshund (WHD or Wire), from the airport. From that day on, it's like we had a new member to our family Before I made a decision to go for a Wire, I must have browsed and consulted many people over the internet as well as many pet shops. Everyone said that a Wire-haired Dachshund would be a great companion, and indeed Ginger is.

Good-natured, extremely understanding and a lovely coat were some of the reasons that I preferred WHDs over other breeds and other variants of Dachshunds. Wires are small and hence Ginger fits in very nicely with my urban set-up. He is lovely in colour and smell. I love that he is so alert and has adjusted so well to a family environment.

In addition to Ginger himself being wonderful, I am grateful to Preeti and Windward Kennels since it is obvious how good breeding makes a lot of difference. The pedigree of the breed and its outcome betters the gene-pool of a breed. Preeti's after-sales relations with the me and my family made the adoption and bringing up process really easy and natural. I am very glad that I decided to get Ginger from Windward!
